New York City, N.Y. – In an exciting collaboration that transcends entertainment and advocacy, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation has partnered with the upcoming Broadway sensation, ‘My Son’s a Queer (But What Can You Do?)’, set to hit the Great White Way with West End sensation Rob Madge at the helm. The partnership aims to extend the show’s powerful message and contribute to mental health support for young people.

Established in 2012 by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, the Born This Way Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to championing youth mental health. The foundation actively collaborates with young individuals, aiming to foster a world that is both kinder and braver. Since its inception, the Born This Way Foundation has remained committed to being youth-led and youth-focused, striving to meet and support young people on their terms and in their unique journeys.
HOW IT WORKS
Scheduled to commence preview performances at the Lyceum Theater on Tuesday, Feb. 27, with an official opening night on Tuesday, March 12, ‘My Son’s a Queer’ will feature multiple activations by the Born This Way Foundation. These activations, both in-person at the Lyceum Theater and online, will focus on mental health support, aligning with the Foundation’s commitment to fostering a kinder and braver world.
THE TIES THAT BOND
The heart of this collaboration lies in supporting Lady Gaga’s non-profit organization’s Be There Certificate—an online mental health course designed to equip young people with the necessary tools to assist someone facing mental health challenges. Attendees of the Broadway show can actively participate in fundraisers that contribute to the Foundation’s impactful initiatives.
In addition to promoting mental health awareness, the activations will champion the Born This Way Foundation’s Channel Kindness initiative. This encourages young individuals to engage in community service, fostering a culture of kindness and empathy.
MY SON'S A QUEER (BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO?)
“My Son’s a Queer (But What Can You Do?)” is a poignant one-person play where Rob Madge narrates their journey of self-discovery and acceptance as a non-binary person. The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of their family’s evolution in understanding and embracing their identity. The West End run of the show garnered a nomination for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play at the 2023 Laurence Olivier Awards.
